Marketing guidelines introduced by Twitter

A new guide for businesses looking to use Twitter for lead generation purposes has been launched.

Entitled Twitter 101, the publication may be of use to companies that are considering integrating the micro-blogging website in their lead generation strategy.

The article is divided into six sections, with the first providing a basic outline of the functions of Twitter for those that are new to the social media site.

Other issues covered include a guide to the language often used on the online portal, as well as a number of cases studies of firms that have successfully integrated Twitter into their marketing strategy, such as Pepsi and Dell.

"The results [of these case studies] demonstrate how customers are getting value out of Twitter and suggest techniques businesses can employ to enhance that value," the report states.

Also included are a number of external links to other websites offering further information about how to maximise the effectiveness of the service.

A study conducted by Marketing Sherpa earlier this month found that another social media website is becoming popular among companies using the internet as part of their lead generation strategy.

The research revealed that there has been an increase in the amount of pay-per-click marketing taking place on Facebook, with 3.6 per cent of those questioned stated they have invested constantly in marketing on the site over the past year.
