Telemarketing lead generation 'should not be ignored'
Businesses relying on their websites for lead generation should not underestimate the importance of telemarketing, an expert has claimed. The benefits of telemarketing should not be ignored by companies that are focusing on the internet for their lead generation, it has been suggested.
According to industry expert Stacy Williams, while websites are an invaluable tool for lead generation, many firms "forget" about the other ways to increase their customer numbers, techlinks.net reports.
"Many [potential clients] pick up the phone and call the number posted on the website," she told the news source, noting that the origin of the lead is often lost during the sales process.
Most companies have "no idea" how the user found their way to their website, she explained, adding that search engine listings, banner ads or pay-per-click ads are all methods that can be used to draw a user to an online portal.
Redesigning a website to ensure visitors arriving from different search engines are presented with alternate telephone numbers would enable companies to track the calls, she remarked, something that businesses looking for ways to improve the efficiency of their lead generation may wish to note.
Her comments follow those of Alex Hoye of Latitude, who recently told Accounting Web that online marketing is useful for testing new marketing techniques before they are implemented fully.
