London 'an ideal city' for market entry

London has numerous advantages for companies looking to carry out market entry in the UK, it has been suggested.

Commenting on a recent survey by Cushman & Wakefield in which the capital retained its position as Europe's best business city, chair of the London Assembly Darren Johnson said that there are a number of "plus points" for firms wanting to open offices.

He cited the "huge range of languages spoken" as one key factor, as well as "its accessibility, its transport system, its international role in terms of markets [and] its highly skilled staff".

"London has got an awful lot going for it," he remarked, but added that there are some issues that need to be addressed before it can improve further.

These include the "serious" air pollution problem that the capital is suffering from as well as the fact that quality of life in the capital is lower than in some of its European counterparts.

He noted that mayor of London Boris Johnson is set to produce a number of plans and strategies for the future of the city next week, which the assembly will be studying to make sure they "continue to make the best of what London is good at".
