Lead generation tips offered to businesses
Media exposure, telemarketing and networking are among those recommended.Companies have been provided with several tips to improve their lead generation in the recovering economy by several industry experts.
Maintaining a tough business exterior has been emphasised as important by Nikki Braybrook of Big Fish Creative Recruitment, as being able to handle rejection is essential for those in sales, SmartCompany reports.
Furthermore, Julia Nekich of The Ideas Suite noted that media exposure can be one of the best lead generation strategies around, because of its extended reach.
"Get your story in a top-selling Sunday newspaper and you'll reach an audience of 750,000-plus," she said, referring to one business's website that crashed due to the number of visitors generated from a publication in a paper.
Telemarketing was also highlighted as an effective strategy by Julian Leahy of marketing firm Search Finalist, who stated that he allocates three people to cold calling, which brings in approximately 15 strong leads each day - totalling 75 a week.
Improving networking skills was also identified as a way of furthering marketing budgets by Lisa Butler of Paragon Associates, who commented that such techniques are not about "pitching your services", but are more to do with building relationships and "leveraging" from them.
Earlier this month, businesses were advised by expert Jack Morkel to consider outsourcing lead generation if they do not have the necessary resources.
