The best salespeople 'are organised and follow thorough processes'
There are certain character traits which the most effective salespeople share however, there are only two which can be described as being essential to their success.
Ingrid Freemyer, writing on the Vorsight blog, said that when she conducts sales training workshops she asks attendees what the most important characteristics for salespeople are, with most responses including personable, tenacious, outgoing and determined.
While these can be beneficial in the world of sales, what the most successful salespeople need is to be thoroughly organised and disciplined enough to follow sales processes without deviating, which is an area where a sales consultancy could make a difference.
"The common misconception is that to be good at sales you should be the life of the party and extremely extroverted. While these traits are great
the most important characteristic is being organised and having an extremely thorough process and sticking to that process," Ms Freemyer added.
A sales consultancy could also help change the culture of the sales team by instilling in them a proactive attitude, something which Peter Oliver, principal at Sandler Training, told the Worcester Business Journal was very important to their chances of success.
